Random Things Wednesday

Helloooo everybody!! Hope everyone has had a good week! It feels like a Thursday to me, but it’s only Wednesday.

Tomorrow is actually my last day of my summer class!! Woooo!! 🙂 I’m really excited! I have my final on Tuesday. The only bad thing is that it is comprehensive so I have to go back and study everything I learned last semester plus everything I’ve learned this summer. That’s a whole year of material. Luckily, I have 5 days to work my butt off for one last time.

Anyways, I haven’t posted in a while so I thought I would do a post about, as the title indicates, random things.

1) I really like mystery shows. I’m in LOVE with Criminal Minds, and I could watch reruns all the time. Right now, I’m really into Final Witness. They have the “witness” that dies in the episode tell how they were killed, and it’s actually true events that have happened before. It’s a pretty good show. I also really like Dateline, but it freaks me out because it actually happened, and it scares me to think that it could happen again to anyone, so I try not to watch it as much. Weird, I know. Sometimes, I’ll watch it, and then regret it later on.

2) I don’t like to keep coffee in my apartment because I don’t like to get addicted to it, but unfortunately, I think I’m addicted to caffeine again. When I’m at school, I’ll go to Braum’s and order a medium sugar-free vanilla iced latte. It’s really bad because I’ll go like 4 times a week! There’s no way I’m going to save money if I keep this bad habit up. I need to stop. My parents keep coffee, so I just make myself some there. I need to cut back just to a couple of cups a week.

One of the many lattes.

3) This week, my parents are taking care of my niece, Isabella, and nephew, Maddux so they came to visit me today! They also brought my niece, AnaSophia. It was funny because Bella kept asking me why I didn’t live at “mema’s house” anymore, but I told her that I did, but I just stayed at my apartment when I went to school. I loved having them here! They are seriously such fun kids. I shared a pack of M&Ms with them. Pretty sure I’m their favorite aunt. 😉

4) I took my last regular Organic Chemistry exam last night. I felt pretty good about it, but I wasn’t sure how I would do. This morning, our professor was going over the test, and he said that some people did really well, but others disappointed him a bit because they didn’t do as well. I was really scared that I had been one of the people who didn’t do good. I got my grade back, and I made a 91!!!! 🙂 I finally got my A which I needed to go into my final. It definitely is such a motivation to keep studying just for a couple more days! I was so excited because I sometimes feel people don’t think I can still make A’s on my tests now that I’ve been in college, but I’m so glad I can prove them wrong! WHADDUP!! 😉

I haven’t felt well, so I unfortunately haven’t gotten any workouts in, but I have been eating pretty healthy! 🙂

Recent eats:

Pita topped with almond butter and a banana. Coffee with almond milk and stevia.

Spaghetti squash and broccoli topped with spaghetti sauce and a black bean veggie burger.

Clif Mojo bar for a snack. Chocolate Almond Coconut. So good!

Strawberry protein smoothie. Side of boiled egg, hummus, pico, and a pita.

I need to get back to studying so I will talk to you guys later! 🙂

What are your favorite TV shows?

Modern Family, Criminal Minds, The Office

Do you have anything you spend too much money on?

Color Me Rad Race Recap

Alright, recapping my races is something I have been slacking on. Not that I’ve done a million races, but I have yet to recap my half marathon, but today, I’ll recap the Color Me Rad run that I did Saturday with my friend, Nikki, her sisters, and one of her sister’s friend. Here we gooo!

We needed to be at the state fairgrounds where the race was being held by 8:30 because the race started at 9 am. We left town around 7:15 so we could arrive with plenty of time.

Nikki and I on our way to the Color Me Rad 5K! 🙂

We arrived about 8:20. Our team name was “RI5KY Ladies.” This was totally a joke I threw out there because someone mentioned using “RI5K” and everyone decided to run with it. Haha luckily, it wasn’t on our bibs. 😉

Group with one missing.

The RI5KY Ladies! Hahaha 😉

The race began at 9, and that’s when the first heat took off. We were in the 9:15 heat, but didn’t take off until about 9:25. Someone finished before we even started! It was crazy! I was already sweating before we even started running! It was pretty hot. We started off the race, and at the first km they threw blue cornstarch on us. We tackled a hill, then came upon the green color being sprayed on us mixed with water. It was actually really nice being sprayed with the water since it was pretty hot. We continued on, then found some water so we grabbed some. The only problem was it was warm. They didn’t put it in any coolers, but at this point that any water was better than no water. We kept jogging, and we would stop every so often to walk for a bit. The last color we got thrown on us before we got to the finish line was yellow. I didn’t get too much on me. Finally at the finish line we went through a cloud of pink powder! It was insane! I couldn’t breathe very well. We went to the Grande Finale where everyone just threw their color packets at one another. Once again the large cloud of corn starch formed over us. Haha 😉

It took Nikki, her sister, and I to find her other sister and mom. We finally met up with them and took some more “after” pictures.

Despite the heat, the Color Me Rad 5K was so fun! We definitely all want to run it again next year. 🙂 I loved that this race was just completely for fun. I felt no pressure to get a certain time or anything, and I loved that I got to run it with my best friend. I also loved our whole team. These ladies were so fun, and we joked around the whole time.

Summer school is winding down so I will hopefully get back to regular posting, and I plan on finally recapping my 1st half marathon that I did in oh, April! Haha! 😉

Did you run The Color Run or Color Me Rad? What did you think?

Do you like fun races or more serious races to get an official time?

Some News and Life Recently

Hey guys! Hope everyone had fun celebrating yesterday! I was lucky enough to have the day off work and school so I spent it with my family. We grilled hamburgers, shrimp shish-kabobs, and veggies. It was so delicious! My niece and nephew swam in a little kiddie pool they brought over. They wanted me to hop in the pool with them, and even though I am only 5′ 2″, I would have taken up the whole pool so I opted out and layed on a towel to see if I could possibly get a tad bit darker. Since I have been in class pretty much this whole summer, I haven’t had time to lay out so I’m a little paler than anyone should be.

Anyways, I did mention that I have some news to share with you guys. About a month ago, I applied to be a FitFluential ambassador. I never mentioned anything because I figured since my blog is so new I wouldn’t get chosen. I am happy to inform that yesterday I received an email from Danielle at FitFluential saying that I got accepted!! So I’m now a FitFluential ambassador!!! I am seriously so excited to be part of their team! 🙂 I love that I’ll be able to get to know more people who share the same passions of healthy and fitness. If you guys haven’t checked their website out, go now! You don’t have to have a blog to be part of FitFluential.

Now that I’ve shared my great news with you guys, let’s move on to some recent eats. These are going to be random since it’s been a while since I’ve posted.

overnight oats topped with strawberries, peaches, and pb. *IDEA: If you buy pb or whatever else you can buy in those little plastic containers from Whole Foods, you can wash them & reuse them to put overnight oats it!* One of the best ideas, I’ve had recently. Except, don’t stick them in the dish washer unless you want them to be oddly shaped. Hey, that’s cool, I won’t judge. 😉

Dr. Prager’s veggie burger on Ezekiel toast. Side of baby carrots and cucumbers.

French toast with a grilled banana smooshed in between the bread. Greek yogurt topped with strawberries, cinnamon, and stevia to dip my toast in. Yum 🙂 I got this recipe from Clare at Fitting It All In. So good. Definitely try it.

This was my plate yesterday when we grilled: veggie burger, grilled veggies and shrimpies!!!, cucumbers, and of course, pickles. I was definitely a happy camper after this.:)

I also had watermelon and cantaloupe. 2 of my favorite fruits in the summer:)

I need to get back to studying. I’ll leave you guys with a picture of my niece.

She’s a cutie. 🙂

Tell me:

Did you do anything fun on the 4th of July?

Favorite summer fruit(s)?

Any fun summer plans?

P.S. I can’t believe I almost forgot to tell you guys that I ran 5 miles yesterday without stopping. This has been the longest I’ve ran since running the half marathon. I’m going to give credit to watching the Track Olympic trials rerun. It definitely motivated me! 🙂
