My Oatmeal Review

Hello all!:) Hope everyone is doing well! I’ve been so busy with school, but it’s finally winding down! Hallelujah! My finals start in about 3 weeks, and I will officially be on break on May 7th. I just gotta keep going until then. Break is soo close!:)

Anyway, a while back I got the opportunity through Fit Approach to receive my own custom oatmeal from My oatmeal! I went to the website because this sounded like a fun thing to do! I LOVE oatmeal! It is one of my go-to breakfasts because it’s quick, filling, and delicious. I always eat breakfast before class because it helps me focus better on the lectures.

Using My Oatmeal was really easy! You just can go to their products page(which I linked above), and customize your own bag! They had so many different combinations you can make. I couldn’t decide what to make so I went with one of my favorites and decided to go with banana nut bread flavor. I added walnuts, chia seeds, and monk fruit to sweeten it. Another fun thing is that you get to name your oatmeal creation! I am not very creative so I name mine “Banana bread dream” because I absolutely love banana bread. I got the oatmeal in the mail in about a week, and I could not wait to try it!

Since I love banana bread, I decided to make an oatmeal bake! It was too good! I loved the chia seeds and walnuts in it, and I also love the flavor the monk fruit gave my oatmeal. I seriously recommend trying this if you like oatmeal. It’s fun to make create your own bag of oatmeal, and you can add whatever you want to it. They have a lot of great add-ins like dried fruit, nuts, chia seeds, flax seeds, among other things! They also have 3 different sizes of bags you can order, but I just ordered the 1 lb bag, which was plenty for me.

GNC Orange Cream Lean Shake Review

About a week ago, I received a package from GNC! I was so excited to receive the orange cream lean shake protein powder! I had been eyeing this flavor especially since the weather has been warming up. I love smoothies when the weather gets warmer!



The first thing I did was make a green smoothie! It’s been a while since I’ve enjoyed a green smoothie, and it tasted like I was eating dessert! IMG_3060

I loved that the protein powder made the smoothie thick! I forgot to add ice, but I am pretty positive this would have tasted like an orange push pop if I would have added ice!:) The flavor was so creamy, and definitely covered the spinach taste.

The stats on this are awesome.
For 2 scoops there are:

  • 200 calories
  • 3g total fat
  • 9g fiber(!!!)
  • 3g sugar
  • 25g protein

I love when protein powders include fiber because I really feel like it is an important part of a diet, and this has 9 grams of fiber! Even if you only used one scoop, you would still get a good amount of fiber and protein.

I couldn’t just do this review without making one of my favorite meals. PROTEIN PANCAKES!! :)



It tasted so good in my protein pancakes. I wasn’t sure how orange cream would be in pancake form, but it was delicious. I will definitely using this to make my pancakes again.:)

I will definitely be buying this when I run out. The flavor was amazing, and the texture it gave my smoothies was nice and thick which you can’t get from a lot of protein powders.

My First WIAW Post

I finally have time to jump on the “What I Ate Wednesday” wagon. I love seeing what other people eat in a day because it inspires me to change up the foods I eat. I can be a creature of habit, and when I find something that I like and keeps me full, I will eat it until I eventually burn myself out! By seeing what delicious food other people eat, it gets me to try a new food or recipe. Like I never knew that salmon burgers existed until I started reading healthy living blogs! And I didn’t try one until this summer! Who am I? I had obviously been living under a rock!;)

Sidenote: I recently was selected to be a Sweat Pink Ambassador!!:) I was so excited when I received the news. I cannot wait to connect with others that have the same passions as me.

This month’s WIAW is “FALL into good habits.” I think this is great because I know my eating has not been very clean after this summer so this is great way to get back into good habits.:)

Here we go!

1/3 c oats with 1/3 c pumpkin, cinnamon, stevia, a banana, and almond butter.

Coffee with almond milk and vanilla NuNaturals stevia.

2 slices of Ezekiel toast with an Amy’s veggie burger, lettuce, spinach, tomato, hummus, and guacamole. Side of pickles and baby carrots.

Bed of organic lettuce and spinach topped with tomatoes, pickles, goldfish, and sunflower seeds with raspberry vinaigrette. Salmon and carrots on the side, along with a green tea.

I also had like 20,000 handfuls of this cereal. It’s so good!!!!:) It will be added into my cereal rotation. It’s the perfect cereal for Fall.


Monday-Rest day.

Tuesday- 3.1 mile run-finished in 31.33.

Wednesday- 4 mile run.

This isn’t the first time I’ve been caught with my hand in the cereal box one too many times.:) I also did this with the Whole Foods Peanut Butter balls.

Weekend Recap and Starting Half Marathon Training…Again!

Hey hey guys! Hope everyone has been doing great!:) Since the last time I posted, I have actually been pretty busy. On Wednesday, we ran around getting the rest of our school supplies and what not. It was really nice so we went out for a walk. Thursday came around, and I just had to go to Anatomy lab. It wasn’t too bad which was good. I have always tried to avoid taking Anatomy because I was a little freaked out that we would have to dissect a cat. Luckily, I have become okay with the idea of dissecting the cat so I’m ready for it! Friday, Saturday, and Sunday were spent babysitting, studying, and working out.  I loved this weekend. It was a little hectic, but it was great!


Wednesday: 4 mile walk with Nikki

Thursday: 3 mile morning run.

Friday: Sprints at the track followed by a jog and walk.

Saturday: 1 hour on the elliptical. 4 minutes of Tabata

Sunday: 4 mile run.

Today, I start my new half marathon training schedule. I’m following Hal Higdon’s Novice 2 training program for my second half marathon. Today is actually a rest day so I might just go for a walk or completely rest my legs before tomorrow’s 3 mile run. I followed the Novice 1 for my first half marathon, and I felt like it really prepared me to finish that half marathon. I’m planning on running the Route 66 Half Marathon in Tulsa on November 18. I’m really excited! My brother is also running one leg of the marathon relay. It’ll be great to have my oldest brother there.:)

Weird Day.

Hey guys! Hope everyone started out their week great! I had a good day except Monday didn’t go as I had planned.

I’ve mentioned before that I was going to try to get in more hours since I didn’t work all summer. Well I had planned on waking up at 6 then going to workout really quick, coming home to shower, then head to work. Well I hit snooze like 5 times, then I’m not sure if I shut off my alarm, but I didn’t wake up until 1o. I would have to leave work at 2 so I didn’t even go in because I wouldn’t have been ready until 11. My eats have also been off today, which is disappointing to me because I’ve been doing so good on getting back to eating clean. I’ve been trying really hard to get back to a happy weight because thanks to summer school, I gained some lbs. I also didn’t drink as much water as I usually do which I think is the reason I didn’t eat as clean as I have been. Oh well, tomorrow is a new day, and another day to start over. I don’t want to sound like I’m complaining because I don’t want it to come off like that, but it just stinks because I’ve been doing so well and then one day I mess things up. Alright, lets move on to positive things from today.:)


I wanted to do something with some speed intervals, but also get an hour long treadmill workout. I decided to do The Fitnessista’s Boredom Buster treadmill workout. It was the perfect combo of fast intervals and length. I loved it! I was sweating a lot during the whole workout. I loved the endorphins I had afterward also.:) I forgot to take my proof picture for FitFluential.

After my workout, I showered then my brother and sis-in-law came over with my niece and nephew. My niece went to ‘Meet your teacher” night. She’s growing up so fast. She’s already going to be in pre-K. Crazy. Anyways, we also played outside and threw water on each other. It’s so awesome how kids can have a blast with the simplest things. Love it.:)

I’ll go ahead and show you some of my eats from today.

Oats with vanilla, cinnamon, & some NuNaturals stevia. Topped with Love Grown granola and almond butter. Coffee not pictured.

Salad with tomato topped with black beans, cheese, and a couple of Fritos x more handfuls of Fritos chips.

Snacks were a random cereal bowl, lots of cucumbers, and Love Grown granola. Too many random snacks.

Alright lovelies, I’m off to tackle my Tuesday. I have a whole day planned to catch up with Kate. We’re going to buy her books, get her signed up at the gym, and going to the city.

Finally, A Break.

Hey y’all! Hope everyone is having a wonderful week so far! I’m excited that it is already Wednesday! Like I’ve mentioned before, I’ve been busy all summer with my my summer class. I’ve been taking Organic Chemistry II, which is pretty hard. I’ve studied so hard all summer, and I’m glad to inform that I made an A!!!:) I was so excited when my professor finally posted our grades. I love that he always grades everything fairly quickly so he had our final test grades up about 4 hours after we finished our tests. I felt so nervous waiting for my final grade because I felt like I had done pretty well, but I wasn’t sure what the test would show. I’m so happy I got this class over with, and I accomplished something over my summer. Now I’m just going to enjoy the last three weeks of break before I have to go back to school. I also plan on working to hopefully save up some money.

This past weekend, we went to Texas on Saturday for a quick trip to see some of my aunts. We probably go to Texas about once a year since my dad’s sisters live there. I LOVE Texas! Maybe after I graduate, I might want to move there, but we’ll see.:) Of course, I told my parents that I would go if we could make a quick stop at Lululemon.😉 They agreed, thank goodness. I’ve had my eye on the Good Fortune bag from Lululemon so I really wanted to see it in person. I ended up choosing the gray one, and I absolutely LOVE it! I also bought some running socks. I ran my first half marathon in some of their running socks and I’ve been in love ever since.:) After that, I bought a salad at Corner Bakery. It was insanely good!

It was a bed of spinach topped with grapes, strawberries, oranges, and goat cheese.

We headed back to Oklahoma around 8 that evening, so we got home pretty late. On Sunday, I woke up late, ate breakfast, watched some of the Olympics, and of course, studied. Monday was also spent studying, then Tuesday, I took my test, then rewarded myself with a trip to Whole Foods for getting the grade I wanted.😉 I picked up a few groceries. The white organic peaches are delicious! I also picked up some strawberries amoing other things. I need to get my fill of peaches and strawberries before they go out of season!

Today, I went to the gym, then came home and hung out with my niece and nephew. I am proud to say that my niece and nephew love broccoli thanks to me.😉 I really love the kiddos so much.


Recent eats:

Toast topped with Justin’s Vanilla Almond butter and half of a banana. Coffee with almond milk and stevia.

Flatout wrap with refried beans and rice. Side of broccoli and mixed veggies.

Protein pancakes topped with plain greek yogurt, stevia, cinnamon, bananas, and strawberries.


Treadmill: 2.5 miles (10:00 mi pace)

Elliptical: 3 miles – 30 minutes

I’ve been trying to watch the Olympics, and it’s definitely motivating me to workout harder. I love watching all the athletes. I also don’t mind watching the men’s gymnastics team.😉  I’m very excited to watch the women’s Olympic marathon! I will be waking up at 5 am to watch it.

Some News and Life Recently

Hey guys! Hope everyone had fun celebrating yesterday! I was lucky enough to have the day off work and school so I spent it with my family. We grilled hamburgers, shrimp shish-kabobs, and veggies. It was so delicious! My niece and nephew swam in a little kiddie pool they brought over. They wanted me to hop in the pool with them, and even though I am only 5′ 2″, I would have taken up the whole pool so I opted out and layed on a towel to see if I could possibly get a tad bit darker. Since I have been in class pretty much this whole summer, I haven’t had time to lay out so I’m a little paler than anyone should be.

Anyways, I did mention that I have some news to share with you guys. About a month ago, I applied to be a FitFluential ambassador. I never mentioned anything because I figured since my blog is so new I wouldn’t get chosen. I am happy to inform that yesterday I received an email from Danielle at FitFluential saying that I got accepted!! So I’m now a FitFluential ambassador!!! I am seriously so excited to be part of their team!:) I love that I’ll be able to get to know more people who share the same passions of healthy and fitness. If you guys haven’t checked their website out, go now! You don’t have to have a blog to be part of FitFluential.

Now that I’ve shared my great news with you guys, let’s move on to some recent eats. These are going to be random since it’s been a while since I’ve posted.

overnight oats topped with strawberries, peaches, and pb. *IDEA: If you buy pb or whatever else you can buy in those little plastic containers from Whole Foods, you can wash them & reuse them to put overnight oats it!* One of the best ideas, I’ve had recently. Except, don’t stick them in the dish washer unless you want them to be oddly shaped. Hey, that’s cool, I won’t judge.😉

Dr. Prager’s veggie burger on Ezekiel toast. Side of baby carrots and cucumbers.

French toast with a grilled banana smooshed in between the bread. Greek yogurt topped with strawberries, cinnamon, and stevia to dip my toast in. Yum:) I got this recipe from Clare at Fitting It All In. So good. Definitely try it.

This was my plate yesterday when we grilled: veggie burger, grilled veggies and shrimpies!!!, cucumbers, and of course, pickles. I was definitely a happy camper after this.:)

I also had watermelon and cantaloupe. 2 of my favorite fruits in the summer:)

I need to get back to studying. I’ll leave you guys with a picture of my niece.

P.S. I can’t believe I almost forgot to tell you guys that I ran 5 miles yesterday without stopping. This has been the longest I’ve ran since running the half marathon. I’m going to give credit to watching the Track Olympic trials rerun. It definitely motivated me!:)


Back to the Basics

Hey hey hey!:) I hope everyone is enjoying their summer. My summer has consisted of a lot of this:

As I’ve mentioned before, , my eating habits have kind of gone downhill after I finished training for my half marathon. I’ve been sweating less, and eating more things that aren’t great fuel for my body, such as ice cream. During my half marathon, I would indulge sometimes, but since I wanted to stay healthy throughout my training, I wouldn’t indulge often. Once I finished though, I started eating out more often and indulging more. When I went home for a couple of weeks before summer school started, I gained about 5 lbs, which isn’t a lot, but when you’re only 5 feet 2 inches, its shows a lot more. Once I got back to school, I started eating wayy better, but still not where I want to be. Indulging too much makes me tired, which is probably the reason it has been such a chore to wake up early to workout. I’m pretty sure I’ve been getting enough sleep, so I shouldn’t have as much trouble as I have been waking up in the morning. Anyway, my point is that I’ve decided to go back to the basics. Eating whole foods, and cutting out processed foods. I need to cook more meals at home, which isn’t that big of a problem. It’s something I can definitely do. I’ve also upped my water intake since it’s so hottttt outside. Seriously, 97* by noon isn’t something I like. I’ve also glad that Chef Katelyn has decided to do “Eat Clean Sweat Dirty July Challenge” which I’m definitely going to jump on. What better way to get back to the basics than to have other people do it with you?:) I also told my best friend, Kate, about it so I’m hoping she’s jump on with me too. She’s so amazing and has been working out like a mad woman and seeing results! She is seriously so inspiring!:)

While doing this challenge, you guys will see a lot of my eats (not everything) and my workouts. I want to stay accountable for everything I’m doing, and hopefully, I will see the results I want.

Here are some of this weekend’s eats: (not everything is going to be healthy especially since today is the first day of the challenge. :))

I hung out with Nikki and Tia on Friday, we went to eat and got fro yo from Orange Leaf! It was delish, but I didn’t feel as if it was any different from other fro yo places. We had all heard it was the superior fro yo shop, but we all decided that we weren’t going to go out of our way to find an Orange Leaf. It was really good though!:) We all got pb and chocolate for yo, and my toppings were cookie dough, strawberries, kiwi, M&Ms, and I don’t remember what I is in there. I think I got way too much because I couldn’t finish it! I know, what kind of person doesn’t finish fro yo? I’m a little ashamed.😉

I hope everyone decides to join Chef Katelyn’s “Eat Clean Sweat Dirty July Challenge”. It’s going to be great! I’m definitely excited!:)

Pineapple Cilantro Lime Black Bean Salad

Hello! How’s everyone’s Monday been? Mine was pretty good. I’ve been very productive today! I ran, went to class, studied, made a new recipe, watched last night’s episode of Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition, and I’m probably going to end it with studying. I took my first quiz today in my Organic Chemistry II class, and I feel like I did pretty well. Maybe it was my run that helped me out?😉 Today was my first day in quite a while that I’ve woken up early to go run. I didn’t go for very long because I ran 5 miles yesterday and my legs were a little sore, but I’m so glad that I did get up because it definitely set a good mood for the day. I’ve also been more productive so I’m going to continue to get up before class to run.

Anyways, let’s go back to this weekend. I only have class from Monday through Thursday, so I headed back home on Thursday afternoon. Friday, I had to work from 9-4, and then I helped babysit. Saturday, I babysat for a couple of hours, went running then I went to the J Crew outlet to try to find some denim shorts. I like checking out the outlets because I can usually find a good deal, and since I’m on a college student budget, that’s always nice.😉 I ended up getting a few more things than I had planned since I was only going to look for denim shorts. I also found some really cute wedges for around $30! That was definitely a steal for me!

The goods: white and grey v-necks, light green crew neck, purple shorts, floral skirt, denim shorts, and wedges. I’m very with how much I spent on all of it!:)

I also went to Whole Foods to buy some groceries for the week.

I’ve been craving a black bean salad, but I haven’t found any recipes that sounded really good to me. I wanted something summery that I could top beds of lettuce with. I decided to throw some things that sounded good to me, and it actually came out really good! I was very pleased with the end result.:)

Pineapple Cilantro Lime Black Bean Salad:

  • 1 can black beans
  • 1 can corn
  • 1 small green bell pepper
  • 1 small tomato
  • part of an onion
  • spinach
  • 1 lime
  • Pkg of Simply Organic Pineapple Cilantro dressing mix

Dice green bell pepper, tomato, and onion. Place black beans, corn, bell pepper, tomato, and onion in a bowl. Tear up some spinach (as much as you desire), and add to bowl. Dump pkg of pineapple cilantro mix into bowl, then add the juice of the lime. Mix together. Chill.

Moving on to some eats from today.


Overnight oats: 1/3 c oats, 2 tsp chia seeds, 1/3 c Chobani greek yogurt, cinnamon, stevia, 1/4 c almond milk. Topped with strawberries, blueberries, a small peach, and 1 tbsp Almond butter.


1 egg on a Van’s whole wheat english muffin with spinach and ketchup. Side of 1/2 sweet potato, and cantaloupe. I didn’t finish the sweet potato because the cantaloupe and egg sandwich filled me up.


Organic Pink Lady apple with chocolate PB2

SF vanilla latte for a quick pick-me-up so I could keep being productive.😉


Pineapple cilantro lime black bean salad on top of iceburg lettuce and spinach. Side of carrots and jicama. If you have not tried jicama, please try it! I’m absolutely in LOVE with it!

Do you guys watch Extreme Makeover: Weightloss Edition? I LOVE that show!! I have almost cried in the last two episodes. It’s such an inspirational show! I also love Chris Powell. He’s such a nice guy, but so helpful. He can be my trainer if he would like to. Just saying.😉

Do you like morning or evening workouts?
I like morning because they give me a burst of energy, and I feel more awake.

National Running Day!!

Happy national running day!!:) I’m currently watching the OKC Thunder vs San Antonio Spurs basketball game! THUNDER UP!!

Anyways, I’m loving today! I made sure to fit in a run! I waited until this afternoon because I thought it was supposed to be raining all day. Guess not. I went out after I studied for a while. The sky still looked semi dark, but I decided to go to the trail anyways. I ran about 2 miles, then it started sprinkling so I headed back to my car. Right after I got into my car, it started pouring! It was crazy, and I was really glad I didn’t get caught in the rain. I could barely see driving back to my apartment. It stopped after about 2 hours, thankfully.

When I got back from my run, I remembered that I hadn’t watched the episode of Extreme Makeover: Weight loss edition from Sunday. It was so good! I loved it! I’m definitely hooked! I always love watching The Biggest Loser and shows like that.

Besides running and watching some TV, I haven’t done much except study. I’m taking Organic Chemistry II this summer, and it’s a pretty difficult class, and I decided to take it this summer which is going to go twice as fast so I’m definitely trying to keep up with all my homework so I don’t get behind. Luckily, I only have to be in class for about an hour and a half, and the teacher has made it pretty interesting, but it is only day 2 so we’ll see how I feel in a couple of weeks.😉

I’m also trying to get more sleep now that I’m back at school. My class doesn’t start until 10:50, but I like to get up early so I can fit in a run or workout. I don’t know why, but whenever I go back home, my sleep schedule gets totally off. I think the past month, I’ve gotten like 6 hours of sleep a night which I cannot function on. I don’t know how people do it. I’m a lot happier when I get enough sleep. Also, I don’t like napping in the middle of the day because my naps end up being like 3 hours, and then I feel that I wasted my whole afternoon. Anyways, luckily I’ve been catching up on my sleep this week which has been pretty nice.:)

I grabbed this the other day so I could try it, and it is definitely my new favorite! I probably don’t need anymore expensive habits though.😉

Anyways, I’m off to finish watching this nerve-racking game. I’m hoping for a Thunder win! I’ll leave you guys with this picture of my niece and nephew.
