Great Land Run 5K Recap

Hi everyone! If you haven’t entered my Zevia giveaway, go on over to do so. I decided to choose the winner on Tuesday night, and I’ll post it Wednesday! πŸ™‚

I had a pretty busy weekend, but I wouldn’t have wanted it to be any other way. I rushed home Friday so I could go into work on time. I had an online test that took longer than I had expected it to. After work, I went home to wash some running clothes before I left to go to my brother’s house where I was going to be spending the night because we were both going to run the 5K at 7:30 in the morning on Saturday. I arrived at their house around 7:30 Friday evening, then I took my niece, AnaSophia, to the mall so we could get some cookies. There was a Claire’s accessory store right by the Great American Cookie place so I decided to take her in there so she could pick out a couple of things. She was so excited to come out with some stick on earrings, some Disney princesses jewelry, and a small hair brush that she wanted to have. She is the cutest! πŸ™‚ After we got our cookies, we headed back to my brother and sister-in-law’s house. I decided to study a bit for Anatomy while my brother worked on some marching band shows. We finally went to bed, and woke up at 5:30 on Saturday morning. We both had coffee and toast as our pre-race meal. I had almond butter on mine, and he had cinnamon and sugar. We left their house around 6:50 AM since the race wasn’t far from their house. The race started a little after 7:30, and the weather was perfect. It was a cool 59*, and it was lightly sprinkling and cloudy. I’m proud to say that I kept up with my brother the whole time, and I didn’t walk ANY of the race. The course wasn’t too difficult. There were some hills, but nothing terrible. Our gatetime was 30:12 and our chip time was 29:45 for me, and 29:44 for my brother. Our goal was to finish under 35:00 minutes and we definitely accomplished that! My brother wanted to see what place he finished overall so he went to look at the papers that had that info. I decided to look too, and I ended up finishing 32nd overall in the women, and 1st in my age group!!! I was so excited and couldn’t believe it! πŸ™‚ It wasn’t a very big race at all, but I did beat the other 8 people in the 20-24 age group so I’m pretty proud of myself. My brother ended up finished 3rd in his age group, and this was his 1st race!

Adrian, AnaSophia, and I before the race.

We both not only accomplished finishing under 35 minutes, but we also placed pretty high in our age groups! πŸ™‚ I was also sooo happy that I was able to run this with my brother. He told me after the race that he really enjoyed it, and thinks that he will continue running races. I’ve finally brainwashed someone into loving running! πŸ˜‰ We, of course, had to stay to get our medals, and then after that my brother rushed home because he had to be with the high school band during the parade.

AnaSophia and I during the parade.

Selena during the parade. She wouldn’t smile for me! lol

We watched the parade, then AnaSophia came back to my parent’s house with me. After we got home, I napped for like 2 hours! I was exhausted! I then spent the rest of the evening studying.

Yesterday, AnaSophia and I went to Mass, then came home so she could play with Bella and Maddux. I left my parents’ house around noon so I could stop by Whole Foods to get groceries then I headed back to my apartment so I could unpack and keep studying for Anatomy. I also got some food prep done. Janetha’s Almond chia seed protein muffins that are 100 calories, and I also cooked some spaghetti squash for the week. Being prepared definitely helps me make better choices during the week. πŸ™‚

Hope everyone has a great Monday! πŸ™‚

What did you do this weekend?

Do you ask family members/friends to run races with you(if you run)?
I have asked my friends and brothers, and finally Adrian agreed to run it with me. πŸ™‚ I’ve also convinced him to run a half marathon in April. My brainwashing skills are getting so good.;)

Do you like prepping food to have ready for meals during the week?
